BUSINESS × OPERATIONS × TECHNOLOGY × AI

Daniel Pastva / entrepreneur & builder

I build businesses.
And connect
the dots.

Commerce, production, warehouses, the last mile. I care about how it all works together. I connect business, operations and technology — from the first idea to the work that happens every day.

Entrepreneurial thinking.
Hands-on execution.

HOW I THINK

Understand first.
Then build.

When something breaks, I don’t just want to fix the last step. I want to understand what came before it. How the business, the numbers, the people and their tools fit together.

Sometimes the answer is a better process. Sometimes it’s connecting two systems. And sometimes you need to build something of your own. Technology isn’t the destination for me. It’s how an idea becomes part of a working business.

01 / VENTURES I’M PART OF

Ideas that made it
into the real world.

Founder or co-owner. Different roles, with the same interest in the whole business — from the product and the numbers to the customer’s experience.

LOGISTICS01

COOLBalíkFounder · finance · technology

Cold-chain logistics connecting food producers with their customers. Strategy, financial management and technology behind everyday deliveries.

More about COOLBalík

Food is not an ordinary parcel.

A producer can have a great product and a successful online store. They still need a way to get that product to the customer under the right temperature conditions. At COOLBalík, I work on the connection between commerce and the physical delivery.

My role

I bring financial management and technology development together. The economics of a delivery matter to me just as much as the tools that support planning and day-to-day operations. Logistics isn’t an afterthought. It’s part of the customer experience.

FOOD & E-COMMERCE02

BoxxiCo-owner · business transformation & growth

Connecting good food with a sound business. Financial discipline, pricing, digital development and a customer experience that holds up beyond the checkout.

More about Boxxi

A good product is the beginning.

Boxxi brings fish, seafood and other food products to its customers. Behind the storefront sit decisions about the range, pricing, stock and delivery. None of those works well in isolation.

My role

As a co-owner, I work on how the business operates: financial discipline, pricing and digital development. I look for a clear connection between what we promise customers and what our operations can deliver.

FOOD FULFILLMENT03

COOLJackCo-owner

Chilled, frozen and ambient storage in one fulfillment service. Built around food producers and online grocery businesses whose ranges don’t fit a single temperature zone.

More about COOLJack

One range. Different requirements.

Shelf-stable food, chilled products and frozen goods need different storage conditions. To the customer, they can be part of the same purchase. COOLJack brings all three temperature regimes into one fulfillment service.

For producers and food e-commerce

As a co-owner, I see this combination as a new chapter in food fulfillment: shared operational infrastructure for brands that want to offer a broader range without finding a separate storage service for each part of it.

HOSPITALITY04

Tiki TakyCo-owner

A new chapter for an established Prague bar. A venture where business meets a distinctive atmosphere and the simple pleasure of a good evening.

More about Tiki Taky

Not everything fits a spreadsheet.

Tiki Taky is a cocktail bar in Prague 3 with a Polynesian character of its own. A different business from logistics or technology, but with an equally important question: what makes people want to come back?

My role

I joined as a co-owner. I’m drawn to the combination of an established place, its identity and what comes next. Here, the outcome isn’t a delivered order. It’s an evening someone wants to experience again.

02 / SYSTEMS I’M BUILDING

When the tool is missing,
I start building.

I understand an operation best when I can see the whole picture. This is my vision for the systems I’m building: where I want them to go, and how people, businesses and technology will work together.

COOLCONNECT / OPERATIONS

From an order
to the work behind it.

I’m developing COOLConnect as an operations platform. Not just a link between an online store and a carrier, but a connection between orders, production, stock and dispatch. The aim is shared information and a clear next step for everyone involved.

  1. 01 Orders
  2. 02 Production
  3. 03 Inventory
  4. 04 Dispatch
How the parts should work together

An order sets work in motion

Online orders will come together in one view. Payment, cut-off times and delivery dates will determine the next steps. When something needs attention, the system will explain why — not just show a red light.

Production driven by demand

Orders will become a practical plan: what to make, how much and by when. Materials, purchasing, preparation and finished goods will follow the same demand. An order change shouldn’t disappear between sales and production.

Inventory in context

Goods received, reservations, availability, batches and expiry dates will connect to individual orders. For food, that includes temperature requirements. The point is to know not just what we have, but what we can actually sell and dispatch.

One flow through dispatch

Picking, packing, labels, collection and carrier handover will form one workflow. Shipment updates will return to the store and customer service. Everyone should see the same order, not a different version in another spreadsheet.

Subscriptions that fit real life

Recurring orders will connect to delivery plans, payments and availability. Customers will adjust their box, frequency and delivery date; those choices will become clear operational tasks rather than more manual administration.

Five operations under one roof

Five operations will work in one cloud-based system. Management will have a shared overview; each team its own tasks, stock, cut-offs and rules. Shared connectors will make room for another operation without rebuilding the system. Separated data and permissions will determine who can see and change what.

5 operations. One system.

In the cloud. Anywhere, anytime, for the whole team. From management and production to the warehouse and dispatch — each with the right view and permissions.

NARVAL / LOGISTICS OPERATIONS

Logistics that adapts.
Right to your door.

I’m designing Narval to connect the warehouse, dispatch, drivers and customers. Every piece of a shipment will have a traceable journey. Every change will reach the people who need to act on it.

Customers will be able to change their address even an hour before delivery, when the route and operational limits allow it. The warehouse, dispatcher and driver will receive the updated plan; Franta will help spot shipments that should have left but are still in storage.

How Narval will work

Automatic address changes through customer apps — even 1 hour before delivery

Customers will enter a new address in the app. The system will recalculate the entire route, check feasibility and assess the extra time and cost. If the change stays within operational and cost limits, it will update the address automatically, reorder stops where needed and give the customer a revised delivery time. If the requested address isn’t viable, it will suggest the nearest feasible delivery point for the customer to approve. The confirmed plan will reach the driver and dispatcher, with arrival estimates updated for the affected stops.

Every piece has a story

Scanning will connect receiving, storage locations, transfers, loading and handover. Teams will know which piece is missing, where it was last checked and what happened next. Chilled and frozen parts of an order won’t disappear behind one summary status.

One operation. Different perspectives.

Warehouse staff will see what to prepare and where to find it. Coordinators will spot missing pieces. Drivers will get the next practical step, and customers a clear delivery picture. Dispatchers will handle exceptions rather than piece together information from several apps.

The work continues without a signal

Mobile actions will be stored safely when connectivity drops and synchronised when it returns. A traceable history will help resolve discrepancies without lost or duplicated actions.

Customers in control of delivery

Customers will see shipment milestones, the available vehicle location and an arrival estimate with its last update. They will be able to reschedule from the available capacity in their area, up to two hours before the route begins. An address change an hour before delivery will be assessed against the actual route, not simply its distance from the original address.

No shipment left behind

Working with Franta, Narval will compare the dispatch plan with warehouse and loading records to check whether a shipment is still in storage even though it should already have left. It will alert the responsible team to any mismatch and use the last recorded movements to help locate the shipment and decide what needs to happen next.

Connected to the sender, too

A business portal will bring together shipment creation and bulk imports, labels, transport documents and cash-on-delivery records. ERP connections will distinguish accepted data from updates still waiting to be transferred.

Built from operational experience

I set the product direction and translate real logistics needs into how the application behaves. I work with an AI team across implementation, review and testing. The goal isn’t another shipment register. It’s a system people can run an operation with.

Warehouse → route → customer

FRANTA OFFICE / AI VOICE ASSISTANT

Not just an answer.
A task done.

I’m designing Franta as a Czech-speaking voice colleague for the office and the operation. It will find information, connect it and make sense of it. Then help act on it: prepare a decision, record a conversation in the CRM, create a task or update the team calendar.

It will flag stock running low with seasonality in mind, help follow sales conversations and check the warehouse through authorised camera access. It will connect information with practical tasks — even when I’m not there.

What you’ll ask Franta

How a sales conversation is progressing

“Franta, bring me up to speed on our negotiations with this company.”

It will bring together the CRM history, meeting notes and follow-up tasks. What have we agreed? What’s still open? Who needs to do what next? On request, it will draft a new note or follow-up task and save it after approval.

What needs ordering before it runs out

“Franta, when do you predict we’ll run out of Icelandic salmon in the online store?”

It will compare available stock, reservations, sales rates and expected deliveries. It will also account for seasonality and fluctuations in that product’s sales, including unusual increases or drops in demand reflected in the available data, rather than relying on average consumption alone. The forecast will explain its assumptions and uncertainty, highlight when replenishment needs attention and, if requested, become an internal purchasing request for approval.

What the delivery data tells us

“Franta, which of our drivers exceeds the speed limit most often, and who has the most undelivered shipments?”

Authorised telematics and delivery records will become an overview for a chosen period. Event counts will sit alongside distance driven, shipment volumes and recorded reasons for non-delivery. Logged speeding events will be distinguished from unverified signals; an undelivered shipment won’t automatically be treated as the driver’s fault.

When something happens on the road

GPS and telematics integration is intended to flag a possible collision or another unusual event and immediately alert the office, including the vehicle’s location, the time and the reason for the alert. A stopped vehicle alone won’t mean a confirmed accident.

See what’s happening when I’m not there

“Franta, check the camera and tell me what’s happening at the loading bay.”

Authorised camera access will help check the loading area or warehouse even when I’m not there, and connect the footage with shipment records or an operational question. It will make clear what the footage cannot reliably establish.

From conversation to completed work

A discussion will become a note, task, team calendar update or practical procedure drawn from company documents. Franta won’t stop at saying “done”: it will verify that the approved change was saved and retain a traceable history.

The right information, for the right people

Access will depend on a person’s role and the specific action. Sensitive changes and messages will require confirmation. Company cameras, driver records and commercial information won’t be open to everyone. Franta is there to support human decisions, not replace them.

Understand → process → act → verify

04AI, integrations & automation

I connect AI with business systems through APIs, MCP (Model Context Protocol), webhooks and other communication interfaces. I design the links between ERP, online stores, CRM, warehouses and logistics — from exchanging data to triggering and verifying a specific action.

For me, AI goes beyond text and spreadsheets. Franta will help me see what’s happening even when I’m not there: authorised camera access will help check the warehouse or loading bay and connect the footage with operational records. It will distinguish what the image shows from what still needs a person to verify.

The point isn’t just an answer in a chat window. It’s a workflow where AI understands the context and acts within clear permissions. Access controls, a history of changes and safe error handling are part of the design.

SELECTED WORK / DOBROTY S PŘÍBĚHEM

From restaurants
to people’s homes.

2020–21

I joined Dobroty s příběhem during Covid. The business had spent years supplying pubs, cafés and restaurants. I led its shift to direct-to-consumer e-commerce.

01 / The problem

Hospitality closures disrupted the social food enterprise’s established route to market. Waiting for restaurants to reopen wasn’t enough.

02 / The idea

Bring the products directly to people’s homes. Change not just the sales channel, but how customers choose, order and receive their food.

03 / What we changed

E-commerce became the new direction. Smaller jars for households joined the larger catering packs, backed by direct sales.

04 / Behind the storefront

Cold-chain distribution connected the new packaging and order flow. The website, the product and delivery had to work together.

05 / The outcome

Products reached households beyond the previous customer network. Czech Radio reported on the story in February 2021.

A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE

There’s more than
one way to do things.

I’ve travelled to 50 countries. Not just to see places, but to understand how people think elsewhere. What they take for granted, what they do differently and what there is to learn.

I bring the same curiosity to business. Doing something a certain way for a long time doesn’t mean there isn’t a better one.

At Portus Praha, I worked on project management, fundraising and digital marketing, including leading AKCE CIHLA — the Beneficial Brick campaign.

The initiative helps create the support people with intellectual disabilities need to live with dignity. Working in the non-profit sector remains an important part of how I think about what a well-run project can achieve.
